Richie Chen is a painter and ceramicist based in New York and New Jersey. He holds a BFA in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and has studied painting and ceramics at the Art Students League of New York. His work moves between ceremonial figuration and cosmic world-building, constructing visionary spaces rooted in ritual, light, and the imaginary. Chen has exhibited at The Painting Center, Dacia Gallery, Springs Projects and the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery.

He is the recipient of the Xavier Gonzalez and Ethel Edwards Travel Grant and the Takifuji International Art Award, and completed a residency at Art Food Poland in Cmielow. His work has been featured in Plural Art Mag and Two Coats of Paint. Chen lives and works in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and New York City.
